SOLD recognised by Thames Heritage Trust Awards

thames-heritage-trust-awards-tym-2019The River Thames Society (RTS) awarded a cheque and certificate to the team at Thames Young Mariners, part of Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD), as runners up in the Thames Heritage awards*.

Presented to Rob Fidgett, Operations Manager from SOLD by Hilary Pereira of RTS: "I am so happy to be able to present Thames Young Mariners with this award for all the amazing work they do supporting young people in gaining confidence on the water at their lake setting in Ham, Richmond," said Hillary.

"I have visited the centre over many years as a competitor of the Great River Race and as a parent when my children learned to sail there."

The money will help towards the creation of the Open Water Swimming Club which will open at the centre during the summer 2019.


*Thames Heritage Trust Awards: The Thames Heritage Awards are made annually to groups and organisations involving young people under the age of 25 which stimulate use of and interest in the river, as well as bringing benefit to the Thames. Nominations may be made by individuals, groups or organisations and must demonstrate benefit under one or more themes.
