Surrey’s DofE Operating Authority now run by SOLD
Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD) is now the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Operating Authority for Surrey's special schools and youth organisations that don't hold their own DofE licence.
SOLD has been an Authorised Activity Provider (AAP) for several years, running Gold Residential opportunities in mountain biking, canal boating, canoeing kayaking & paddle boarding as well as running a multi-activity week.
Last Christmas a Gold Residential week ran for the first time, where activities included assisting at a local food bank, attending a carol concert, learning some Christmas craft skills with the group cooking and preparing their own Christmas dinner.
"The participants really enjoyed the warm and comfortable lodge style accommodation that we have available." Said Gareth Moss, DofE Manager.
Gareth added, "we're excited to have the opportunity to serve a wider audience of participants, building upon our established reputation for delivering high-quality outdoor experiences and outdoor learning."
Off the back of its success, SOLD ran its first SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) Gold Residential in April for Gold participants with additional needs.
SOLD also run other initiatives, such as a 3 month Mountain Biking Bronze course, that includes both bike maintenance for the Skills Section and bike riding for the Physical Section.
