Open Water Lifeguard
About the role
- Part time (casual) hours
- Weekday evenings 4.30pm to 8.30pm and weekend mornings 7.30am to 11.30am. Minimum of a 3 hour shift.
- Days of the week will vary depending on the tides. There will be up to 35 to 55 hours of work available per month.
- At Thames Young Mariners directions, near Ham.
- £14.93 per hour (inclusive of holiday entitlement).

Would you like part time work where you can work with a dedicated group of people who love to deliver safe swimming session to the general public at our beautiful site at Thames Young Mariners, Ham?
We are seeking a team to deliver and run open water swimming provision at our tidal lake attached to the River Thames.
We are looking for skilled staff to run our sessions and keep our swimmers safe.
Main duties will be setting up sessions, registration, and session safety.
Previous experience
You may be an experienced lifeguard and, or, a current instructor and will have knowledge in how outdoor learning can benefit all aspects of personal and social development.
Applicants should have previous personal swimming experience and ideally hold at least an outdoor National Governing Body (NGB) qualification. A current first aid qualification is essential.
The National Governing Body (NGB's) we are looking for include:
- Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) Lifeguard Qualification (Pool, Beach or Open Water)
- Open Water Level 2 Swim Coach
- Paddle UK Swimmer Safety and Rescue Course
- Aquatic Safety Qualification
- British Canoeing Paddlesports Instructor or equivalent
Training can be provided if required.
Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development will also consider candidates who have other outdoor National Governing Body's (NGB) but are keen to take on this role. There is scope to train candidates to become lifeguards.
Potential other work at the site also available pending training and skills set.
