Our Outdoor Learning Instructor (Academy) role is suitable for individuals new to the outdoor learning industry.

Applicants need to have excellent communication skills, be able to build rapport and empathise with others and be confident to lead groups in an outdoor setting.
We will provide an excellent training package and support, which will grow and develop the skills, knowledge and tools in this role.

As part of our delivery team, our new staff will be quickly delivering quality sessions in a number of outdoor activities; with the opportunity to obtain a nationally recognised qualification.

Qualifications could be ERCA (Ropes course qualification) or Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing) Paddlesport Instructor, depending on local base of work, along with a 2-day Rescue Emergency Care first aid course.

The salary for this position is £24,475 per annum pro rata (based on a 36-hour working week).

Staff will have a primary base and will be required to work across all centres at times.

  • High Ashurst - Mickleham, Dorking, Surrey, RH5 6DQ
  • Henley Fort and Angel Blue - Guildford, Surrey, GU2 4RH
  • Thames Young Mariners - Ham near Kingston, Surrey, TW10 7RX

What are we looking for?

  • Previous group work experience in an outdoor or other setting
  • Your interest and passion for the outdoors
  • Previous experience of working with children or young people
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A positive and solution focused attitude.
  • An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be carried out during recruitment.
