Outdoor Learning Instructor (Fixed term)

The salary for this position is £24,977 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

We have fixed term 12 months full time contract.

Our centres are located at:

  • High Ashurst, Mickleham, Dorking, Surrey, RH5 6DQ
  • Henley Fort and Angel Blue, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 4RH
  • Thames Young Mariners, Ham near Kingston, Surrey, TW10 7RX

Staff will have a main local base or centre of work and there will be a requirement to work across other centres at times.

Then come and join our growing team of Outdoor Learning Instructors at Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD), Surrey County Council's outdoor learning service.

This is a fantastic role for an experienced instructor offering varied and rewarding work during our busy season; working in a high-quality service, within a supportive staff team.

What are we looking for?

Previous outdoor learning delivery experience.

Holder of 'in house' qualifications from other outdoor centres.

Relevant National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications such as:

  • British Canoeing Paddlesports Instructor (or equivalent qualification)
  • Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Assistant Sailing Instructor or above
  • Archery GB Instructor Award
  • A walking qualification such as Sports Leader Lowland Expedition Leader or Mountain Training Lowland Leader or Mountain Leader
  • MIAS level 2 (Mountain Bike Leader) 2 or British Cycling Mountain Bike Leadership Level 2 Instructor
  • Forest Schools Leader Level 3 or IOL(Institute for Outdoor Learning) Bushcraft Competency Certificate
  • SPA (Single Pitch Award) or CWA(Climbing Wall Instructor) or ERCA (European Ropes Course Association) Ropes Course instructor

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be carried out during recruitment.
