The site was established 60 years ago. It spans 25 acres and features a 10-acre lake. The River Thames is where the site is located, between Richmond and Kingston.

Thames Young Mariners is located in a 200 acre public open space that is a local nature reserve. Thames Young Mariners, near London, is a popular place for schools and organisations to visit.
