Health and Safety and Insurance
Health and Safety
During activity session times led by SOLD staff, the responsibility for safety and welfare sits with us as qualified and experienced professionals.
During activity times, our staff will be leading the group and making key decisions about health and safety issues.
We will, wherever possible, work with you closely on this to ensure that any decisions made are the right ones for the group and the outcomes of your visit.
Group leaders must remain with their groups while activities are taking place.
All SOLD instructors are qualified First Aiders and can therefore administer basic First Aid if required.
Any First Aid administered by our staff will be recorded, as will any accident that takes place on site.
Please let the SOLD instructor working with you know about any accident, injury or medical concern you have about your group as soon as possible. Medical information about your group must be shared with your instructor upon arrival (please bring this with you).
We love working with everybody and as part of that we expect a level of behaviour from the group that is safe and will not put an individual or other young people in any danger. Please let your group know our expectations. If we feel that behaviour is not acceptable, your instructor will alert you immediately in order to rectify the situation. If behaviour is deemed hazardous the activity will have to be stopped.
Insurance
We are covered by a £10 million public liability insurance policy. This does not cover the loss or theft of any personal items during your visit to us.
We do have secure places on all of our sites to store valuable items, but please avoid bringing valuables where possible.
Please speak to our staff when you arrive if you need to use this facility. If you need to see a copy of our Public Liability Insurance contact us by email at outdoor.learning@surreycc.gov.uk.
